The lab is set up with a Dante netowrk so you can present your audio to the whole room using the four speakers in the corners plus the subwoofer.
STEP 1: START DANTE VIRTUAL SOUNDCARD
Navigate to your applications folder on your lab computer station and launch the Dante Virtual Soundcard application.
Click the Network Interface drop-down menu and select whatever network is available.
Press Start.
NOTE: If Dante Virtual Soundcard is already running when you open it you will see a STOP button instead of start. If this happens, click stop then start again. Sometimes when DVS stays running when the user logs out it can do funny things and make awful noises when you go to use it again. Restarting it can help.
STEP 2: PATCH YOUR MACHINE TO THE ROOM WITH DANTE CONTROLLER
Launch the Dante Controller application.
The patching matrix will look something like this. Locate your lab computer from the list of transmitters along the top.
Locate the three "Ross 221 Outputs" from the list of receivers along the left side.
Click the three + symbols that coincide with your computer and the three Dante outputs.
Patch channels 1-5 on your computer to the Dante outputs in a 1 to 1 pattern by clicking on the corresponding square. This will make channel 1 on your computer patch to speaker 1 in the room, channel 2 to speaker 2, etc. Speaker 5 is the subwoofer. For QLab, we want to patch each speaker into a different channel. But you can patch multiple receivers into the same transmitting channel if you want.
NOTE: Only one lab computer can be patched into the speakers at a time. If you patch in while someone else is using it, it will break their connection.
STEP 3: SET THE OUTPUT DEVICE IN YOUR AUDIO SOFTWARE (QLAB, PRO TOOLS, LOGIC) TO DANTE VIRTUAL SOUNDCARD
For QLab, you set the audio output device by clicking the settings "gear" icon in the bottom right corner of your workspace.
Then select Audio from the list on the left.
Then click the Device" drop-down menu.
Select Dante Virtual Soundcard and click DONE.
